Warm-up and sun salutation sequence to open the body, followed by Hatha Yoga flow. Surya Namaskara, the ancient practice of Sun Salutations, is the sacred heart of our morning sessions. This rhythmic sequence of postures is designed to harmonize the breath with movement, creating a fluid "moving meditation" as the sun rises over the Umbrian hills.
By gently lengthening the spine and stretching every muscle group, it systematically opens the body, releasing the stiffness of sleep. Beyond the physical benefits of flexibility and strength, this sequence builds internal heat and stimulates vital energy (Prana), clearing the mind for the day ahead.
A muscle awakening activity to prepare the body and mind for motor work at an increasing pace to encourage the activation of the energy level. Hatha Yoga flow is a gentle but active practice, of controlled effort through a constant balance of alternation between holding positions and dynamic rhythms in fluid sequences.
We will practice an activity that allows you to experiment with Yoga practice combined with the potential of the water element.
Static floating with and without aids reduces the load on the joints and promotes toning at a deeper level. The natural movement of the water acts like a constant massage over the entire body.
The approach with water will be gradual. The practice will have a gentle rhythm, the yoga positions will be specific in relation to the context, followed by a final phase of relaxation and breathing. It is a work to feel how the body and mind react when they are supported, stimulated, put to the test by the water elementarm-up.
Each transition is an invitation to be present, fostering a deep sense of grounding and mental clarity. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced practitioner, Swim Yoga provides a revitalizing foundation, leaving you feeling balanced, energized, and fully connected to the natural rhythm of the valley.
Rooted in the ancient Natyashastra, one of India's oldest sacred texts, a treatise on the art of expression written over two thousand years ago, Natya Yoga integrates movement, voice, breath and sacred gesture into a single practice of presence. It is the discipline of making the inner visible: of letting the body speak what words cannot hold.
Unlike the more familiar forms of yoga that work primarily with stillness and alignment, Natya Yoga asks the body to move with intention and meaning to become a vessel for something larger than technique. Each gesture, each sound, each breath carries a quality: grief, wonder, stillness, joy.
Days 4 and 5 are a natural deepening of everything that has come before: the morning Hatha sessions, the walks, the readings from the sacred texts, the evenings of shared listening, all of this becomes material. The body has been listening for three days: now it learns to carry and transmit what the practice, the reading and the silence have gathered in you.
No prior experience of dance, theatre or performance is required or expected. Only a willingness to be present, and to let the body do what the mind has been preparing for all along.
Roberta Calizzi is a yoga instructor, dancer and researcher in the performing arts and in pedagogical-experimental studies.
Her path began with Classical Ballet at 4 years old, then expanded through Jazz and Contemporary Dance, always in motion, always searching.
She later over the years began studying Bharata Natyam, the classical dance form of southern India, a discipline that brought her into a deep conversation with yoga. After completing a full training and internship programme, she qualified as a yoga instructor and has continued her education through national and international seminars and through ongoing studies in experiential anatomy, Body Mind Centering (BMC) and trauma-sensitive yoga.
She teaches Hatha Yoga, Flow Yoga, Natya Yoga and Swim Yoga for adults and children, individually and in groups. She also collaborates with environmental hiking guides to create outdoor creative movement workshops for families and groups in nature.

The Breathe Yoga Retreat is open to all levels, complete beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Roberta adapts every session to the energy and needs of the group. The only requirement is the desire to slow down, move, and be present. No prior yoga experience needed.
The Private Apartment (760€/person) is an independent apartment with a private bathroom, for a maximum of 2 people, ideal for couples or friends who want their own space. The Shared apartments are two larger apartments shared with other retreat guests (4 - 6 beds). The retreat experience- yoga, meals, activities - is identical for both options.
Natya Yoga is rooted in the ancient Natyashastra, one of India's oldest sacred texts, and integrates movement, voice, breath and expressive gesture. It is not a performance discipline, it is a practice of presence. No dance experience is required. Days 4 and 5 introduce it as a natural deepening of the Hatha work: the body learns to carry and transmit what the retreat has gathered in you.
Swim Yoga combines yoga practice with the element of water. Static floating relieves the joints and promotes deep toning, while the natural movement of the water acts like a continuous massage on the body. The approach is gradual and with a gentle rhythm - specific positions for the aquatic context, followed by relaxation and breathing. It is a practice, suitable for all levels, to discover how body and mind react when supported, stimulated and tested by water.
All main meals are included: breakfast, lunch and dinner every day except lunch on the 3rd day which is open: eat wherever and whenever you want freely in Gubbio during the excursion. All food is vegetarian, natural and locally sourced: wine and spirits are available, but must be paid for separately. Please indicate any allergies, intolerances or dietary requirements in the booking form and we will accommodate them fully.
Booking before the early bird deadline gives you 10% off the total price automatically applied. For the July edition (8-12 July 2026), the early bird deadline is 28 June 2026. For the September edition (2-6 September 2026), the deadline is 10 August 2026.

After you send your enquiry, we confirm availability and send bank transfer details by email within 12 hours. A deposit of 50% of the total (or if you prefer you can also pay the entire fee already) secures your place and is due within 3 days of confirmation. The remaining 50% (the balance) is due by 1 July 2026 for the first July edition, by 20 July 2026 for the second July/August edition, by 27 July 2026 for August edition or by 25 August 2026 for the September edition. All payments are usually by bank transfer (IBAN): ask us if you prefer pay by a credit card and we'll give you also this option.
The 50% deposit is non-refundable, but it is fully transferable: if you can no longer attend, you can give your place to another person at no extra cost. Cancellation after the balance has been paid also carries no refund, but the place can still be transferred. We suggest purchasing a your personal travel insurance to cover unexpected events.
The nearest airport is Perugia (PEG), 55km away, about 50 minutes by car. Rome Fiumicino (FCO) airport is approximately 200km away; from there you can take the train to Gubbio-Fossato di Vico and then we could organize for you a transfer by car (about 15 minutes for €15/person). We can arrange a shared transfer also from Perugia airport for €25/person.
By car from the north: motorway A1 exit Orte, then SS3 Flaminia. From the east: A14 exit Fano, then SS76. Our farmhouse is in Frazione Villamagna 16, just 8km from the centre of Gubbio.

Wi-Fi is available throughout the farmhouse, both in the apartments and common areas, as well as in the garden and by the pool. That said, we gently encourage you to use the retreat as a genuine digital detox, at least during the practice sessions and shared evenings. Many guests find that the valley's distance from urban noise is part of what makes the experience restorative. You are, of course, free to manage your own relationship with connectivity.
Each edition is limited to a maximum of 12 guests and this is intentional. Small groups allow the teacher to work closely with each participant and create the intimacy that makes shared evenings and readings meaningful. For groups of 6 or more, contact us directly as we may be able to offer a custom arrangement or a private edition of the retreat.
